Caribbean Weather Satellite(MSN)

Most often, you'll enjoy the Bahamas weather. The sub-tropical and tropical climate makes the islands a pleasant destination year-round. The Gulf Stream and Trade Winds help to maintain even temperatures throughout the year, ranging from 20 to 30 degrees celsius during the day and 17 to 21 degrees C at night. Sea temperatures range between 23 degrees C in February and 28 degrees C in August.

The most refreshing time is between September through May, when the temperature averages 70-75°F degrees. The rest of the year is a bit warmer with temperatures between 80-85°F degrees.

UV Index

What is the UV index?
The UV index is a standard measurement of erythemal

(sun-burn causing) UV intensity that gives a more objective measure than the old “time to burn” (which cannot account for skin tone). The scale is open-ended, but a UV index of greater than 10 is extreme and a UV index of less than 1 is low.

Current UV Index at the Nassau sites
Graphs showing predicted and measured UV Index at Nassau International Airport are updated at 30 minute intervals. Unlike the UVI predictions seen on TV, these include the effects of clouds. The most recent UVI is displayed, along with a corresponding behavioural message. We plan to make similar data from other sites available in this way at a later date but currently data are downloaded from most instruments elsewhere only once per day.

What to wear
Lightweight, tropical clothing is ideal throughout the year. Some Private clubs and Restaurants in Nassau may require men to wear a jacket and tie for dinner.beachwear is inappropriate in downtown Nassau, churches, restaurants and casinos.
